Rescuing a certain dog from a certain roof is becoming a routine event for firefighters in Kitchener – but on Thursday, there was a new twist to the tale.
In recent weeks, authorities have responded several times to a home on Highland Road because of a dog that had climbed onto the roof of the house and stubbornly refused to leave.
It happened again Thursday.
This time, the dog’s owner went out onto the roof herself in an attempt to coax the dog back inside.
Instead, Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society executive director Jack Kinch says, the owner got scared and became stuck on the roof. Firefighters were called in to bring both dog and owner down to safety.
Kinch says the Humane Society has investigated in the past and found that the dog’s owner isn’t doing anything wrong – concluding that the “high anxiety” dog likes to sneak onto the roof from time to time.
