Brantford Police say they’re having trouble piecing together the chain of events that led to a 16-year-old boy being stabbed over the weekend.

Part of the difficulty, they said Tuesday, is that the teenager isn’t “fully co-operating” with their investigation.

As a result, they’re releasing more information about the stabbing in the hope that it will lead them to somebody who saw something detectives have yet to learn about.

According to police, the stabbing occurred around 10:30 p.m. Saturday at the Grand Motel on Colborne Street East, west of Locks Road.

Police say the 16-year-old was confronted by a group of five people after leaving his hotel room, and was stabbed during that confrontation.

He was taken to hospital. By Monday, his condition was listed as stable.

Anyone who saw anything unusual around the motel Saturday night is asked to contact police.

The attack is not believed to be random.
