Two key witnesses took the stand for the prosecution at the murder trial of John Douglas Robinson in Woodstock.

Robinson is charged with first degree murder and causing indignity to a body. He has pleaded guilty to the latter charge.

On Wednesday, Robinson's ex-wife Sharon Ellery told the court she got a call from him in Nov. 8, 2008 during which he confessed to the crime.

She testified he told her he'd killed a man named Clifford by hitting him on the head with a metal pipe, then dismembered him and buried him in the backyard.

Clifford Fair's remains were found buried in the yard of a Princess Street home where Robinson and Amy Gilbert rented a basement apartment.

Gilbert has already been convicted of being an accessory after the fact, though prosecutors say she played no part in the murder.

Gilbert testified last week that she witnessed Robinson killing Fair in a jealous rage and helped carry the body out of the house.

On Wednesday morning, Jessica Whittington (then Jessica Waterland), a friend of Gilbert's testified that Gilbert told her what happened.

Whittington also said she witnessed first-hand how jealous Robinson could become.
