Man arrested after reported hate motivated incident in Waterloo

A man is facing multiple charges after an alleged hate motivated incident was reported to Waterloo Regional Police.

Officers were called to a residential building on King Street North near Elgin Street in Waterloo on Thursday around 1:40 p.m.

They were told a victim was approached by an unknown man who began making derogatory racial comments towards them. Police said the suspect followed the victim through the building while threatening them.

The suspect left the area, and no one was hurt.

On Saturday, police arrested a 34-year-old man and charged him with criminal harassment, uttering threats to cause bodily harm or death and possession of stolen property.
