The discovery of human remains in a Kitchener park is being treated as suspicious.
A man walking his dog in a park near Tyson Drive, in the Bridgeport neighbourhood, found an adult woman’s remains around 7:30 a.m. Friday near the banks of the Grand River.
“The fact that it was discovered outside, along with other factors, led investigators to believe that this could be a suspicious death,” says Waterloo Regional Police Insp. Kevin Thaler.
Police arrived shortly after the discovery was made and remained in the area for much of the day Friday, also canvassing people who live near the park.
The woman’s identity is not yet known. A post-mortem examination has yet to take place.
“The investigation is in its early stages,” says Thaler.
Homicide detectives and forensic officers are involved in the investigation.
