Construction is set to start at the Guelph Central Train Station on Monday, May 16, 2016.
The work is expected to take 14 months to complete and costs $2.1 million.
“The renovations will replace the building’s worn out martials while preserving its unique cultural heritage features, improving accessibility and energy efficiency, and accommodating Guelph Central Station’s transit users,” said Guelph’s general manager of Facilities Management Mario Petricevic in a press release.
As part of the renovations a new concrete wheelchair ramp at the main entrance will be constructed, along with new accessible washrooms.
There will also be a new ticket booth for Greyhound Canada and Go Transit.
The city says that during construction there will be no interruption to transit and that riders can continue to buy tickets , catch trains and buses as usual.
