On the fifth day of the Guelph Transit lockout, city officials issued a plea for the union representing 200-plus transit workers to provide them with a counter-offer.
Mayor Karen Farbridge and city CAO Ann Pappert were both quoted in a city press release issued Friday as saying they wanted to move forward, but needed to hear from Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1189 before doing so.
It’s similar to the sentiments they’ve uttered ever since locking out transit drivers after they rejected the city’s last contract offer Sunday night.
Union officials have said they want the city to present them with a better offer than the one they rejected.
