A 64-year-old man was seriously injured Tuesday morning when he was accidentally shot while hunting in Brant County.
The shot was reported around 8:30 a.m., on a property along East River Road near the community of Glen Morris.
According to the Ontario Provincial Police, the man was shot in his right shoulder.
An air ambulance landed in a nearby cornfield to transport the man, a Timmins resident who was part of a group of six hunters, to hospital.
“This gentleman was kind of away from the group … over near a rocked area,” Const. Ken Johnston told CTV News.
“One of the other gentlemen saw the deer and pulled the trigger. Unfortunately the gentleman that got injured was behind that area.”
All of the hunters were wearing the proper safety equipment, Johnston said.
Police continue to investigate the incident, and say it’s possible that charges will be laid.
Brant County’s deer hunting season began Monday, and continues into the weekend.
