Kitchener and Waterloo’s outgoing mayors will get one last big spotlight.

Waterloo Mayor Brenda Halloran and Kitchener Mayor Carl Zehr have been named parade marshals for the 2014 Oktoberfest Parade.

Both politicians are stepping down from their roles after the Oct. 27 municipal election.

Zehr has been mayor Kitchener since 1997, while Halloran was first elected in Waterloo in 2006.

The parade will be broadcast on CTV at noon on Thanksgiving Day – Monday, Oct. 13.

If you want to catch it in person, the bands, floats and special guests start their morning at King and Erb streets in Waterloo at 8:30 a.m., making their way down King and into Kitchener, ending at Madison Street.

Other Oktoberfest ceremonies begin this week, with luncheons in Cambridge on Wednesday and Waterloo on Thursday.

The official opening ceremony takes place Friday morning, starting at 11:30, at Kitchener City Hall.
