A police officer in Woodstock faces multiple charges after allegedly crashing into a mailbox while impaired.

Police say Const. Mitchell Blair, 29, was off-duty when the crash occurred, on July 4.

According to police, a vehicle passing through the intersection of Dundas and Oxford streets left the roadway and hit a Canada Post mailbox, stopping against a wooden fence.

No injuries were reported, and neither the mailbox nor the fence was said to have been significantly damaged in the crash, but the vehicle allegedly left the scene before police arrived.

Blair is charged with impaired driving and failure to report a collision.
