A Goderich woman had a wild ride to the hospital before giving birth to her new son.

She was being driven to the hospital by her boyfriend at about 6:20 a.m. Thursday when their pickup truck struck a deer south of Mitchell.

The truck sustained extensive front-end damage but with the mom in labour, the driver couldn't stop.

His truck then overheated south of Sebringville and he was eventually forced to pull over.

The man flagged down a passing motorist who drove the couple to Stratford General Hospital.

About two hours later the woman gave birth to a healthy, seven-pound baby boy.
