A 62-year-old woman was airlifted to Hamilton General Hospital following a crash Tuesday afternoon in north Cambridge.

The crash occurred shortly before 2:30 p.m. on Kossuth Road near Beaverdale Road.

Fire and ambulance crews were immediately dispatched to the scene, and an air ambulance was called in to transport the woman, who had critical injuries.

A 67-year-old Guelph man was sent to Cambridge Memorial Hospital with injuries described as serious but not life-threatening.

Police say a black Cadillac was driving eastbound on Kossuth when it crossed the centre lane, grazing another vehicle and then colliding head-on with a Honda vehicle.

Robert McKie was driving the vehicle that was grazed. He says he had a close call with the Cadillac.

“All of a sudden I (saw) this car coming toward me and the passenger says ‘Get over!’” he tells CTV.

“I wheeled her as far over as I could without getting in the ditch and I got around him.”

Police say weather, visibility and speed are not believed to be factors in the collision.

Kossuth Road will remain closed between Beaverdale Road and Shantz Station Road well into Tuesday night as the crash is cleaned up and investigated.
