Volunteers urgently needed for Meals on Wheels and adult day programs: VON

Officials with VON Windsor-Essex say they are in critical need of 90 volunteers to help support the Meals on Wheels and Adult Day programs.

These services provide care and companionship to seniors and adults with disabilities in the community. Without volunteers, these programs struggle to meet the growing demand, leaving vulnerable individuals at risk of isolation and loss of independence.

One of VON’s dedicated volunteers, Mark, began his journey with a simple desire to give back to his community. Eight years later, Mark continues to volunteer with both the Meals on Wheels program and as a member of the Board of Directors.

“Small acts of service have a large impact,” says Mark. “Your service allows a senior to continue to live independently and remain in their residence. A VON visit may be the only social interaction they have in a day, so while our visit is brief, it’s important to the client.”

Volunteers receive free training, and schedules are flexible to fit your availability. VON says by giving two hours a month, you can make a meaningful change in someone’s life.
