Officials near Lake Huron are worried about millions of tiny plastic pellets washing up on shore.

The Lake Huron Centre for Coastal Conservation says the white pellets are washing up on the shoreline from Ipperwash to Kincardine.

They are still trying to find out where the pellets are coming from, but they suspect they leaked from a freighter that uses them in its water exchange system.

Officials say their main concern at this point is for the health and safety of birds that may eat the pellets.
