Many residents were left confused and frustrated, after police blocked roads Saturday, following a fatal shooting in the area of Hullett Wildlife Conservation Area, located north east of Clinton.

Huron County Ontario Provincial said that one man is dead after a shooting incident that occurred shortly after 5 p.m., and that they were continuing to investigate the incident.

Police have been on scene for more than 24 hours.

“We knew nothing on what was going on out there and I’m just concerned for everyone’s well-being,” said Rob Proper.

“More than anything, I’m just hungry for information of what is really going on,” said his wife Diane Proper who heard sirens.

“Quickly ran out, locked my doors, locked my trailer, made sure every door in my house was locked,” she said.

“Very seldom does anybody get shot around here” said Doug Farquhar, who has lived in Clinton for years.

The OPP are reminding all members of the public to be aware of their personal safety at all times.
