A judge has decided the case of Const. Andrew Robson, who faces theft and drug possession charges, will go to trial.

The Waterloo Regional Police Service officer was arrested in November 2010 in connection with the drug-related charges.

Robson’s lawyer had been seeking to have the charges stayed, claiming the Crown had delayed proceedings by not providing disclosure.

But the Crown says it told the defence team months ago the disclosure in question was irrelevant to the case.

Robson is accused of possessing marijuana that he allegedly took while he was on duty.

The judge in the case ruled the delay was reasonable and that the applicant was not prejudiced by the delay.
