TORONTO - GO Transit's workers have ratified a tentative agreement their union reached with GO's parent company, Metrolinx.

Both Metrolinx and the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1587 made the announcement in separate statements early Thursday.

The new three-year agreement, reached October 23rd, calls for raises of two per cent in each of the first two years, and 2.3 per cent in the third.

The union represents 650 GO bus drivers.

In all, about 1,500 workers, including technicians, station attendants, office and professional staff and service personnel, are covered by the deal.

The union had said a proposed wage freeze, working conditions and benefits were among the issues during negotiations.
