Brantford Police made two arrests after an attempted robbery at a convenience store.

According to police, one man entered the Erie Avenue store around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday while a second man stood outside as a lookout.

The man in the store allegedly brandished a knife and demanded money.

When the clerk refused, the two left empty-handed.

A few hours later, police say, the same two men entered a restaurant on nearby Market Street South.

One of the men allegedly grabbed a tip jar off the restaurant’s counter and ran away with a store employee in pursuit.

Police say the man then dropped the jar, at which point an employee picked it up.

Officers then located and arrested the pair.

Cody Seymour, 21, and Kevin Harper, 27, are charged with attempted robbery with a weapon and theft under $5,000.

Seymour is further charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
