A section of Highway 403 westbound through Brant County was closed Thursday afternoon due to a collision involving two tractor-trailers.

The crash occurred over the noon hour, just east of the Rest Acres Road exit in the eastbound lanes.

OPP tell CTV News one tractor-trailer rear-ended another while entering a construction zone.

One driver was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The 403 was closed in both directions initially, but westbound lanes reopened around 1:45 p.m.

By 5:30 p.m., one eastbound lane had reopened and OPP estimated three hours before the other one would follow suit.

Charges are pending against one of the drivers.

A second crash was reported around the same time on the 403 in Brantford`s east end, in the westbound lanes between Garden Avenue and Wayne Gretzky Parkway.

OPP say four vehicles were involved in that crash, but no injuries were reported and the first lane of the highway was reopened around 1:30 p.m.
