A second person has been arrested in connection with the death of Devane Campbell.

Campbell, 20, was shot dead in 2012, during a robbery at his girlfriend’s home on Elm Ridge Drive in Kitchener.

According to police, the Brantford resident was shot while protecting his girlfriend and her roommate from the intruders.

No arrests were made in the case until earlier this month, when 27-year-old Noel Francis was arrested in Toronto.

He faces a charge of second-degree murder.

Thursday, Waterloo Regional Police announced the arrest of Megan Cooper, a 21-year-old Toronto woman, in connection with the murder.

She faces a charge of being an accessory to murder after the fact.

Police allege that as the robbery took place, Cooper was waiting outside the townhouse in a car.

“She was in the vehicle, possibly looking to be a look-out for them,” Det. Sgt. Jeff Rumble told CTV News.

Dionne Campbell, Devane’s mother, said news of the arrest provided some sense of relief.

“It won’t bring back Devane, but today I feel good,” she said.

Police continue to search for two other men who entered the townhouse.

One of the men may be based in Waterloo Region, Rumble said.
