Toronto teenager charged with first-degree murder in Kitchener, Ont. homicide
A Toronto teen has been charged as part of an investigation into Kitchener, Ont.’s first homicide of 2024.
On Jan. 25, at around 9 a.m., officers with the Waterloo Regional Police Service were called to Gray Street, near the intersection of Ottawa Street North and Lackner Boulevard, after receiving reports of gunshots.
That’s where they discovered the body of a 28-year-old man outside a home.

Police have not shared any other details about the victim or the extent of his injuries.
Investigators have been searching for two suspects they believed were involved in the fatal shooting.

There were no new updates in the case until Nov. 12.
That’s when officers charged a 17-year-old boy from Toronto with first-degree murder.
Police confirmed he was arrested outside of Waterloo Region.
The teen can’t be identified because to his age, though police note that could change.
“It is important to recognize that even though this person is 17-years-old, and is considered to be a youth, youths can be charged and trialed as an adult in these cases,” Const. Chris Iden of the Waterloo Regional Police Service told CTV News. “That's going to be determined by the court systems and what happens from there.”
He remains in police custody.
Investigators are still looking for a second suspect and have released a new photo hoping someone can identify them.
