Waterloo Regional Police are looking for three suspects after a Cashmax Payday Loans location on Weber Street East was robbed Tuesday afternoon.

According to police, around 1:20 p.m. on Dec. 14, three males entered the Cashmax and demanded cash from the female clerk.

The clerk was threatened and received a minor injury in the incident.

Waterloo Regional Police spokesperson Olaf Heinzel says "Essentially they approached the clerk and the clerk was physically assaulted although no weapon was seen."

All three males were wearing disguises that included head and face coverings, sunglasses and dark clothing.

Police say the suspects obtained an undisclosed amount of money and fled in a light-coloured minivan.

A similar vehicle was used in a jewelry heist at Fairview Park Mall on Wednesday morning, but police say it's too early in the investigation to tell if the incidents are connected.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact Division 1 Detectives at 519-650-8500 Ext. 4499 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
