A 22-year-old Kitchener man has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of Adam Tyler Jones last month.

Tyrone Carlton Wint has been charged with first degree murder jointly with Kadeem Gabriel, 21, who was arrested and charged last week.

Waterloo Region police Staff Sgt. Chris Downey says “Mr. Wint was always a person of interest in this investigation from the early stages.”

Jones, 25, was shot and killed in the parking lot of a Belmont Avenue apartment building the evening of Sept. 6.

A third man, 20-year-old Jerome Phillips, has been charged with being an accessory after the fact in the case.

Police are crediting the public for their assistance in this case.

“There was a lot of people around, present in that complex, it’s a pretty condensed area and there was a lot of assistance from people there.”

Wint appears to have already achieved some notoriety as a music artist known as K.T., part of a rap group called Highest Grade.

In court on Wednesday, Wint appeared calm, a stark contrast to Gabriel’s emotional and tearful appearance last week.

His twin brother, along with a handful of family and friends were at the courthouse to support him, but refused to speak with the media.

Friends of Jones say the arrest is a relief, but Adam Moss says “I think it’s going to be a true test of our justice system to see how this pans out.”

The investigation is ongoing, but police say they do not anticipate further arrests.
