Police have released a surveillance photo of a suspect in the attempted robbery of a Kitchener convenience store.

Around 2 a.m. Saturday, somebody attempted to rob the Stop2Shop store on Highland Road near Westmount Road.

According to Waterloo Regional Police, the suspect entered the store masked, holding a hammer and demanding money.

When the clerk refused to hand over money, a minor physical altercation ensued.

The suspect then left the store empty-handed.

He is described as six feet tall with a solid build and brown hair.
