Police in Woodstock are investigating three armed robberies that took place in a span of less than two hours.

Knife-wielding thieves targeted variety stores in the city, getting away with cash and stolen merchandise.

Store surveillance video shows the thieves made their first hit around 6:45 P.M. on Sunday.

The robbers were wearing hoods. One of them was wearing a sweatshirt with a distinctive white skull emblem. They threatened the clerk with a knife and then emptied out the till and grabbed cigarettes and lottery tickets.

They struck a second store, belonging to Doohwa Hwang. He says they took cash and merchandise.

"That's it. Two minutes. Two minutes in and out."

A third store was robbed on Dundas Street about 15 minutes later. Police believe the perpetrators were the same suspects as the earlier thefts, although there may have been a third person driving a mid-nineties Pontiac Grand Am.

Detectives are busy working on leads. Chief Rod Freeman believes they may have a possible break in the case.

"Two suspects were arrested in relation to another offense, but the investigation quickly revealed that there be some relevance of those suspects to this robbery investigation."

The investigation is ongoing and police hope someone can help identify the suspects or their clothing.
