ST. THOMAS, Ont. -- A nine-year-old St. Thomas boy whose throat was slashed has been released from Children's Hospital in nearby London, Ont.

A 17-year-old boy made a court appearance via video Tuesday on charges of attempted murder in connection with the weekend incident.

The teen, who cannot be identified due to his age, is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing Wednesday.

Officers who responded to a 911 call at a home (on Mitchell Street) in St. Thomas on Saturday night found a boy bleeding badly from a large cut across his neck.

The boy was taken to St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital and later transferred to London.

Police say the 17-year-old and the boy are both from St. Thomas and are known to each other.
