It will be beginning to look a lot like Christmas in parts of our coverage area by Thursday night, and a little bit like Christmas in other areas.

As of Wednesday afternoon, a snow squall warning was in place for Grey-Bruce as well as other areas around Georgian Bay.

Environment Canada was warning that squalls would organize over the area Wednesday afternoon, continuing through the night and into Thursday.

Up to 15 cm of snowfall was possible by Thursday night in the hardest hit areas.

Sudden dangerous driving conditions were also possible, with localized pockets of near-zero visibility due to snowfall and blowing snow.

Moving south, Huron-Perth and northern parts of Wellington County were expected to see about 2 cm of snow accumulation on Wednesday, with a chance of flurries continuing overnight and a further 5 cm falling on Thursday.

Guelph and southern parts of Wellington County, as well as Waterloo Region, were forecast to have a 60 per cent chance of flurries through Wednesday, with 2 cm of snowfall on Thursday.

In Oxford-Brant, forecasts called for a 40 per cent chance of flurries on Wednesday and a 30 per cent chance on Thursday.

Long-range forecasts showed a risk of snow persisting across our region through Friday and into the weekend.
