Waterloo-Wellington, Oxford-Brant and Perth County could see stormy weather by Thursday afternoon and evening.

Late Thursday morning, Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm watch for a large section of southern Ontario, stretching from Perth and Oxford counties through the Greater Toronto Area to Ottawa and beyond.

Not all thunderstorms are strong enough to merit a thunderstorm watch or warning. Weather alerts are only issued when storms may be capable of producing torrential rain, damaging winds or large hail.

While Waterloo Region’s forecast high for Thursday was 26 C, a cold front was expected to develop later in the day, potentially pushing temperatures below 10 C overnight.

Highs are expected to be in the mid-teens on Friday and Saturday.
