A pretrial is scheduled to continue next week in the case of Xhevahir Myftari, the man accused of killing his sister-in-law two years ago in her Rockwood home.

In August 2012, the body of Xhuljeta Vlashi was found inside her home.

Arrested in Peel Region, Myftari was initially charged with first-degree murder in connection with the case, but that charge was downgraded to second-degree murder in 2013 due to lack of proof the alleged killing was planned in advance.

Myftari made a brief court appearance in Guelph on Thursday, during which the pretrial was delayed due to results of his psychiatric assessment not yet being available.

As has been the case at all prior court proceedings, he enlisted the aid of an Albanian interpreter.
