Brantford Police are trying to determine the events that led up to a pool of blood being found along the Grand River.

The blood was discovered Monday afternoon by people walking along the river near an old train bridge, south of the Lorne Bridge off of Fordview Trail.

According to a police press release, “a large pool of blood and areas of blood splatter” were found in the area, along a path not often travelled.

Forensic investigators were brought in to secure the scene and confirm that the blood came from a human, while the Brantford Fire Department began searching the river from a boat.

As of Monday evening, police remained unsure where the blood had come from.

Anyone who was under the train bridge Sunday or Monday, or anyone else with information, is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
