Waterloo Regional Police are trying to identify two suspects in connection with three break-ins at a Kitchener apartment building.
According to police, two male suspects entered the building at 425 Wilson Avenue between 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 1.
Once inside the highrise, they reportedly entered three separate apartments and took numerous items from each residence.
Waterloo Regional Police spokesperson Olaf Heinzel says "It's difficult to say at this time whether two suspects entered the building and randomly selected apartments for potential thefts or whether the apartments were specifically targeted. That's still part of our investigation."
Images of the suspects were captured by surveillance cameras, and the video has been released by police.
Gerry, who didn't want his last name used, lives in the building and spoke with one of the victims. He says "She was away at work and when she came back her apartment was broken into and it was looted."
Gerd Voigt also lives in the complex, he says "I only know the one on my floor, that apparently they got a lot of jewelry."
Residents are a little edgy since the suspects are still out there and because they're wondering how they got in, Voigt says, since "it was all during the day and not a mark on the door where they busted in on my floor."
In the video surveillance, one suspect does appear to be holding a number of keys in his right hand as he leaves the building.
Asked whether this theft could be connected to others Heinzel says "That's still part of our investigation as well, so we brought in the break and enter team which specializes in that particular area."
