Three Cambridge residents are facing impaired driving charges, after all three were pulled over in separate incidents by the same officer.

Waterloo Regional Police say Const. Steve Chapman stopped all three drivers during a span of slightly more than seven hours last Friday night into Saturday morning.

A 55-year-old man, a 38-year-old-woman, and a 37-year-old-man all face charges relating to impaired driving.

The 37-year-old man is also charged with drug possession.

“In my 29 years of service I have not seen three impaired driving arrests like this,” said Staff Sgt. Ray Ward, who supervises Chapman. “Maybe in a RIDE program there might be three in a row.”

Ward says he applauds Chapman’s diligence, but notes it’s disappointing people still aren’t getting the message that impaired driving can drastically affect lives, and even cause death.
