An early morning shooting at the Fountain Street Carpool lot near the 401 in Cambridge, has left a 26 year old man with serious injuries.

Waterloo Regional Police say it was around 4:15 Saturday morning, when they responded to the incident at the car park. 

Staff Sergeant Mike Haffner says, "As a result of the investigation investigators will be reaching out to a number of people who are associated with these individuals as well as canvassing the area."

Officials say the man was sitting in his car, when he was shot, his female passenger who is not considered as suspect was unharmed. The 26 year old victim was taken to hospital and his injuries are considered serious.

Investigators with the homicide branch are looking for the people responsible for the violent confrontation. Staff Sergeant Mike Haffner say their initial findings indicate this was a targeted attack. 

"Right now the indication is that they are acquaintances."
