The man killed in a shooting in a Brantford parking lot is being remembered as a “kind, gentle soul” who loved dogs and to entertain others.
Jeffrey Maxner, 34, was shot Monday in a parking lot near St. Paul Avenue and Terrace Hill Street in Brantford. He was rushed to the nearby Brantford General Hospital with life-threatening injuries, and was later pronounced dead.
Poppy Zemlicka, a friend and former classmate of Maxner’s at Mohawk College, says she’ll remember him for his “kindness and generosity.”
“He was so naturally gifted both athletically and intellectually,” Zemlicka said in an email.
“I am saddened that he will never have the chance to explore all of that potential.”
Police had little new information about their investigation Wednesday, saying only that they would remain in the area around the shooting for some time to come and want to hear from anyone who has information that could help them out.
