A 20-year-old woman is facing a number of charges including impaired driving following a 20-kilometre police chase that started in Cambridge and ended in Kitchener.

The chase began over the noon hour Wednesday, after the woman allegedly drove into two other vehicles in the area of Hespeler Road and Munch Avenue, then fled the scene.

Police officers soon caught up with the woman. Waterloo Regional Police say her car was spotted speeding in the area of Elgin Street and Franklin Boulevard, then onto Highway 401 into Kitchener.

By the time police were able to block the car in, it had made it onto Highway 7/8 and gotten as far west as Homer Watson Boulevard.

Before the car was stopped, it allegedly hit two police cruisers in an attempt to escape.

Its driver, a Kitchener resident, is charged with impaired driving, failure to remain at the scene of a collision, dangerous driving and flight from police.
