KITCHENER -- Police are still searching for a suspect following a shooting in Kitchener neighbourhood early Tuesday morning.

Shots were fired on Country Hill Drive around 1 a.m. No one was injured, but several vehicles were damaged by the gunshots.

On Wednesday, police said they still investigating the incident and didn't have an update.

They said Tuesday they're searching for a man who was wearing black clothing, a face mask and glasses.

Residents were told to stay inside their homes for several hours on Tuesday morning. Officers spent Tuesday canvassing the area and gathering evidence.

No one was injured in the incident and police said they believe it was targeted.

Ekta Patel, who lives in the area, said she'd just gotten home from work when the shooting unfolded in the area.

"It was scary because we heard the shooting shots, maybe more than four," she said.

Patel said she didn't see anything unusual.

"We came to our balcony to see what happened, but we didn't see anything," she said. "It was so dark."

It's the second shooting in Waterloo Region within in two months. Last month, shots were fired in the Cambridge ONroute. No one was injured, but many people were left on edge.

Waterloo regional police reported violent crime was on the rise in 2020. There were 15 reported shootings. There were seven homicides and five attempted murders.
