We now know the name of the farm worker who died after a workplace incident west of New Dundee.

His family says he is 62-year-old Gary Rush of Plattsville.

Police, fire and ambulance were called to a farm on Puddicombe Road, in Wilmot Township, shortly around 6:10 p.m. Thursday evening.

Rush allegedly entered a soybean silo earlier to clear an obstruction.  He became trapped while trying to fix the problem, police say.

Fire crews worked for several hours before they could reach him.  They needed to transfer the soybeans to another bin in their efforts to get the worker out.

When they finally reached him, he had died.

The Ministry of Labour will be investigating the incident.

His family says they are remembering him as a family man with a strong worth ethic, quick wit and a sense of humour.
