KITCHENER -- Waterloo Regional Police are investigating after a fatal shooting in Kitchener’s south west end Sunday morning.

When police arrived at a home on Windale Crescent just after 4 a.m. they say one man was found dead.

Two other males were also located with non-life threating injuries.

Residents in the area told CTV Kitchener they heard gunshots around 3:30 a.m. and saw someone jump the back fence.

Roxy Lanteigne, another nearby resident, says she didn't hear or see what happened, but that something like this has never occured during the 30 years of her living in the neighbourhood.

"I have two kids. This is scary," she said. "Right beside my house?" This is not okay."

Police confirm a party was going on at the residence.

"Our investigators believe this was a focused or targetted incident," said Inspector Mark Crowell of Waterloo Regional Police. "[we also believe] the individuals involved are known to each other."

One neighbour says the people living at the home just moved in over the summer.

"Our investigators continue to explore any connections to gun, gang, firearm related activity that may have occured at that location or other locations in the region leading up to the event," said Crowell.

The Major Crime Unit and the Forensic Identification team are now working alongside detectives.

There will be an increased police presence in the area as the investigation continues. Police expect to be on scene on Monday as well.

WRPS say they have no suspect information at this time.
