61-year-old man accused of punching the victim more than 10 times

On Thursday, Sault police charged a 61-year-old man with assault causing bodily harm.

Shortly after 9 a.m. on Jan. 16, officers attended a residence in the 100 block of Bloor Street after a report of an assault there.

“An investigation revealed the accused had punched the victim, who is known to them, more than 10 times in the head, face, and body,” the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service said in a news release.

“The victim sustained physical injuries.”

Police located the accused in the 700 block of Carmen’s Way where he was arrested.

As a result, the man is charged with assault causing bodily harm.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on March 10.
