One of Guelph’s biggest summer festivals suddenly finds itself facing an uncertain future.

The organizers of Festival Italiano tell CTV News they won’t be hosting the event this year.

Instead, the members of the Italian Canadian Club will focus their efforts on renovating the main banquet rooms at their hall.

There has been no decision as to whether the festival will resume in 2016.

According to club manager Jim Prigone, reaction to the festival’s absence this year will likely play a role in that decision.

As many as 10,000 people attend the mid-July festival every year.
