No more Canada Day festivities at Columbia Lake

The University of Waterloo will no longer be hosting its Canada Day celebration at Columbia Lake.

There will still be a fireworks show this July but moving forward UW will be working with the cities of Kitchener and Waterloo to find other options.

University officials blame rising costs and a lack of volunteers.

UW has been hosting the Canada Day party for more than 30 years.
