An investigation is underway after a house was destroyed by fire on Monday afternoon.

Firefighters responded to the home on Lisbon Pines Drive shortly after 3 p.m.

Cambridge Fire says flames and heavy smoke were visible when they arrived.

Nineteen firefighters responded to the scene and it took them about an hour to get the fire under control.

It’s believed to have started in the garage. 

When firefighters arrived on scene, nobody was inside the home.Six people were unharmed, however one dog died.

It isn’t clear how the fire started but it's not being treated as suspicious.

The home was destroyed and damage is estimated at $400,000.
