Huron County OPP were called the scene of a multi-vehicle crash on a rural road just south of Milverton early Wednesday afternoon.

It all started when a minivan, travelling southbound on Road 131, was trying to turn left. Police say it was rear-ended by a passenger van. The minivan was pushed into the northbound lane where it was struck by a stake truck and another van.

The driver of the minivan, a pregnant 31-year-old woman from Milverton, was taken to Stratford General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The drivers of the other vehicles were not seriously injured.

A Hazardous Materials (HaxMat) team was called in to assist with the safe removal of chemicals that were being transported by the stake truck, including chlorine, peroxide, phosphoric acid and sodium hydroxide.

A preliminary investigation determined that no chemicals were spilled in the collision, despite early reports that there had been a chemical spill.

Clean-up crews could be on scene until early Thursday morning.

Barricades have been put up at Perth Road 131 near Line 61 and Line 59. Drivers are asked to avoid the area.
