For the third day in a row, area police are warning residents to be on alert following a rash of break-ins, but this time the break and enters occurred in Guelph.
Police say nearly half-a-dozen break-ins were reported overnight, one at a business and the others at residences where the house, garage and/or vehicle was targeted.
On Woolwich Street, the front door lock of a business was broken and the suspect(s) fled with a guitar, leaving behind about $1,000 in damage.
Three homes on Delhi Street were also broken into.
At one, the homeowners slept as the screen on their front door was cut open and a purse, wallet and phones were taken.
At two other homes the garages were entered and alcohol, drinks, a tackle box and a bicycle were taken. The bike was later recovered by police.
A wallet was stolen from an unlocked car at a home on Clive Street.
Finally, a garage and cars were entered at a home on Terra View Crescent where golf clubs and tool box were stolen.
Guelph Police Const. Mike Gatto has advice for people to stay safe and avoiding becoming victims of similar crimes.
"Remember that on any given night that there is somebody out there that is going to try your unlocked doors and try your unlocked cars, and if you’ve left it available to them, they are going to take your property.”
On Thursday, the Waterloo Regional Police Service warned residents in the Rosemount and Heritage Park area to be on alert after two dozen break-ins so far this month.
Meanwhile in Brantford, 13 break-ins in less than a week have police reminding people there to ensure doors and windows are secured.
