A 17-year-old male from Elmira, Ont. now faces numerous charges in connection with a crash in October that killed 18-year-old Miles Hamilton.

According to police, around 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 22, a black Dodge pickup was headed northbound on Barnswallow Drive at Aspen Crescent in Elmira, Ont. when it went out of control and struck a white Chevrolet pickup parked in a driveway.

Hamilton, who was a passenger in the black pickup, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 17-year-old driver was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Speed was initially believed to be one of the factors in the seriousness of the crash.

On Tuesday, the 17-year-old driver was charged with impaired driving causing death, operation with over 80 milligrams of alcohol causing death, dangerous operation causing death and possession of a controlled substance.

He is scheduled to appear in court on April 21.
