The body of 57-year-old Brenda Duncan is believed to have been found following a search in the Tavistock area, less than half a kilometre from where her car was discovered.
Woodstock police say OPP searchers made the discovery around 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday just off of 10th Line near Perth-Oxford Road.
Police had been searching the area around McTavish Cemetery, where Duncan's Mazda 5 van was found on Sunday afternoon. Weather and fresh snow had made the search difficult.
While positive identification of the female body has not been made, police say they are certain it is that of Duncan, and next of kin have been notified.
An autopsy is expected to be performed Wednesday to determine a cause of death.
Duncan disappeared after leaving her Woodstock home on the morning of Jan. 11. Police say she told her husband she was going to work, but had already called in sick to her employer.
Police are still unsure what would have drawn the mother of two to the area, which is about 20 kilometres from her Woodstock home.
Her disappearance has been described as uncharacteristic, and police say they have no evidence to indicate foul play at this point, though it is still a possibility.
Woodstock residents have been saddened by the news, which comes exactly one week after the disappearance. The family has asked for privacy as they grieve the loss.
