WINDSOR, Ont. -- Police are trying to identify a woman who makes raunchy sex shows for an online audience in public places, but keeps what she's doing hidden from passersby.
Police in Windsor, Ont., say the young woman has apparently used city library branches and Tim Hortons' coffee shops as the location for her shows in which she appears to be "engaging an audience online."
Videos circulating on the web show the woman exposing herself and masturbating, according to police.
"We are aware that these types of things happen on the web, however when this individual chooses to bring this to a public space it becomes a concern for us," said Sgt. Matthew D'Asti.
She used her own laptop computer to stream the videos, D'Asti said, and would cover herself when someone walked by.
The woman performed graphic sex acts multiple times between November of last year and the end of January at two Windsor library branches, according to CBC News reports.
D'Asti said police are working with the library as part of their investigation.
Windsor Public Library CEO Kitty Pope said a young woman was spotted in a branch in January taking inappropriate images and was asked to leave by staff.
There were no complaints from library patrons, she said.
Police could not take any action at the time, Pope said, but that changed when they discovered the online videos.
She said library staff handled the situation properly.
"It came to our attention, we have procedures in place to deal with it and we referred it to police which is what we needed to do," Pope said.
Police need help identifying the woman, whom they describe as in her 20s with long, curly brown hair.
D'Asti predicts they'll find the woman because she is "clearly visible in the videos."
He said the investigation is looking into the possible violation of laws governing nudity and indecent acts.
D'Asti said police are confident some of the videos were shot at Windsor library branches, but aren't sure of the locations of the coffee shops because each one is so generic.
