Following an investigation, an off duty OPP officer has been charged with assault in connection with a domestic violence complaint.

The 39-year-old, who is a 12 year member of the Huron County OPP, has been charged with one count of assault.

The investigation was conducted by the Ontario Provincial Police Professional Standards Bureau and West Region Criminal Investigation Unit.

OPP Sgt. Dave Rektor says "The member has been assigned to administrative duties and that will be the case until the matter is dealt with by the courts and the Professional Standards Bureau."

The Constable is scheduled to appear in a Goderich court on Dec. 15.

The name of the accused is not being released to protect the privacy of the victim.
