Guelph’s organic waste processing facility was shut down Thursday afternoon due to a fire.

City officials say the fire began around noon and was quickly extinguished without anyone being hurt.

One of the four waste processing lines was affected by the fire. All four lines were shut down until the full extent of damage could be determined.

According to the city, the fire will not affect the curbside collection of organic waste.
