After a one-year absence, peregrine falcons have returned to CTV Kitchener.

Castor and Mystery nested in our microwave tower in 2015 and 2016. They moved down the block to Sun Life for 2017, and now they’re back above our studio to raise a new family.

In the past, the birds have shown up in April and their eggs have hatched by early May. They’re running a little behind schedule this year – possibly because of the wacky spring weather. While we can’t say for sure, we suspect we’ll see beaks start poking out of the three eggs at the end of May or the beginning of June.

Once the chicks are born, we’ll keep our camera on the box as they grow and start to spread their wings.

Thanks to the Canadian Peregrine Foundation and Waterloo Region Nature for looking after the birds as necessary.
